Grace Daytau is a gargoyle with a fresh lease on life. After turning state's evidence gets her witness protection at a university campus, she's determined to play it straight. Dragons flew across the never-ending skies, roaring toward the heavens. Elves grew trees and tended to the flowers. Dwarves crafted armor and weapons to use for battle. Demons started wars for fun. It was chaotic, yet it was still a home. Then, when things were just starting to look up, the cataclysm struck. Only one man could face the imminent disaster, but he still failed in the end.

Having taken the Auction House in Bartertown, Mihalis must now keep it. Thankfully, five of his sisters, who recently unlocked their 'cubi aspects, have come to help. All of them are members of the self-styled 'Sisters of Steel', and Alska, their leader, is with them. The Auction House is running well now with the help of Biggs, and the issues and other problems there are on the wane, which means it's now time to set about making Bartertown his as well. He's got a plan, he's got his sisters to help him, and he's also got his wives who are already starting to pull together as a family and figure out what their roles are going to be in helping him run all of this.

Mihalis finds himself in a new situation—one in which all of the training he's received growing up isn't helping him to cope as much as he'd hoped. He's angry. He's never truly been angry before in his life, and the anger he's dealing with isn't even coming from him! It's coming from the djevels. His lion side, he's discovered, is far less affected by it than his dark elf, which only makes sense when you consider his dark elf heritage. If he wants to pull himself back together, he needs to understand just what he's dealing with and how to manage it.

Back home in Bartertown once more, Mihalis is working on advancing his plans to turn Bartertown into the kind of place where the rich and powerful come to make those special deals they prefer to do out of sight of both the public and certain governments. He's also spending a fair deal of his time over at HoJo's, where Talin and Caitin's sisters are still very interested in him. Now if only he would stop being ambushed by assassins afterward—it's definitely becoming quite annoying.
