The Church of the Dark Light commands its followers to 'embrace the darkness' inside themselves. But after a beautiful young girl joins the cult, she mysteriously vanishes. Her elder sister turns to private investigator Ryan Kyd to find out what happened to her. Ryan suspects the church is a scam and holds little hope of his client's sister returning. Christmas Eve. While the rest of London is celebrating, Private Investigator Ryan Kyd is drowning his sorrows in his local pub. On his way back to the office to crash out on the sofa, he sees a woman being mugged in the street. Her handbag has been stolen - and it contains a priceless necklace that she has borrowed from the auction house where she works. If she can’t get it back she faces not only losing her job, but a jail sentence as well. Gallantly, Ryan Kyd comes to her rescue.

Private Investigator Ryan Kyd and his sultry associate Carly Bloom have a less-than-conventional relationship. But when strait-laced MI5 agent Crispian Hunt enlists them for a job that they are in no position to refuse, that quickly become the least of their worries. Hunt sends them to Spain on what he claims will be little more than a government-funded vacation.
