Quentin Black Mystery Series

Gifted with an uncanny sense about people, psychologist Miri Fox works as an on-and-off profiler for the police. So when they think they've finally nailed the "Wedding Killer", she agrees to check him out, using her gift to discover the truth. But the suspect, Quentin Black, isn't anything like Miri expects. He claims to be hunting the killer, too. When he confronts her about the nature of her peculiar "insight", Miri gets pulled into Black's bizarre world and embroiled in a game of cat and mouse with a deadly killer - who might just be Black himself.

When her employer, psychic detective, Quentin Black, calls from a Bangkok jail, asking for her help, forensic psychologist Miri Fox is forced to fly across the world to get him. She finds Black working undercover inside a gang of criminals, trying to discover who's murdering street children and burning their bodies inside Buddhist temples. Black isn't the only one interested in the crimes, however, and soon his investigations get the attention of a crime syndicate out of Russia that doesn't appreciate his meddling.

Black disappears, leaving Miri alone in San Francisco mere days after they return from Bangkok. No explanation. Not a word about where he is, what he's doing, what his mysterious new contract entails or even who he's working for. Black will only drop cryptic hints, leaving her breadcrumbs. Miri can feel him, though. More every day. She feels so much through her dreams and into her waking life that her world starts to spin out of control, especially when things between Black and his new employer begin to sour. Black's in danger, although he won't admit that, either.

Black and Miri just want some alone time. Instead, they get thrown into a high-profile murder case when one of Miri's patients shows up dead. When the body is found, beheaded and tied to a pier, Los Angeles detectives descend on San Francisco, convinced it's the serial killer they've been hunting, known only by his media name of "the Templar". When the Templar continues to cut a swath through San Francisco, his victims begin to show a new pattern, however - a pattern that appears to have Miri at its center.
