Andrew Eustace Anselmi is the author of Iron Butterfly―the first in his forthcoming Mezzogiorno Trilogy inspired by the Italian-American experience and shedding light on the untold costs of the twentieth century American dream. Highly respected for his initiatives supporting the Catholic Church, Anselmi was bestowed with the title of Knight of the Order of St. Gregory the Great by Pope Francis in 2017 in recognition of his service to the Holy See. Related honors he has received include the National Head-Start Association Humanitarian of the Year Award for helping underprivileged children in New Jersey urban centers and the Vivere Christus Award for helping create the first Catholic center for evangelization in the U.S. An attorney in private practice for over thirty years, Anselmi lives in Chester, New Jersey with his wife Soledad. They are the proud and loving parents of Gabrielle, Luke and Nicholas. Praise for IRON BUTTERFLY “Pulsing with feeling, haunted by the past, Anselmi’s novel—the second in a trilogy charting one Italian-American family’s journey in the 1980s U.S.—finds a young man confronting the mysteries of his immigrant mother’s youth…. The crisp, often lyric prose...tells the story with swiftness and power while always suggesting deeper meanings. Here’s rich, resonant fiction written with a welcome sense of play.” ―BookLife Reviews “Iron Butterfly is an affecting drama about love and family. The family dynamics are well written and relatable as personified by the Bennett Clan. Anselmi writes with a keen grasp of his character's emotions.... An emotionally satisfying and overall enjoyable read.” ―San Francisco Book Review (4.5 out of 5 Star Rating) “Searching for the past, even though it might lead to discovering unexpected events and emotions, is something all families can relate to on some level…. [Anselmi] create[s] lively dialogues between family members in this tale. It sometimes felt like I was sitting at a kitchen table with people I knew…. I enjoyed the Bennett family's journey into the past, and this book did more than enough to make me interested in the books that are to follow in this trilogy.” ―Manhattan Book Review (4 out of 5 Star Rating) "Andrew Eustace Anselmi’s IRON BUTTERFLY unfolds in multiple sections, through Edward’s journey, his mother’s stories, and their family’s final reunion and healing, keeping the reader engrossed and absorbed as each part of the story goes deeper and deeper into the traumatic events of Maria’s past. Descriptions are vivid, drawing the reader into the scene and allowing us to experience it almost as though we were with the characters. Characters are distinct and have substantial personality – even if some of the lesser characters feel more like symbols than human beings, this fits well with the quasi-allegorical nature of the tale . . .Nevertheless, there are some deeply beautiful moments in the story, like Maria’s mother’s confession to Padre Piore, and some bitterly painful and cruel moments as well. . . All in all, though, this is for the most part a beautiful, richly symbolic exploration of suffering, loss, alienation, maturation, and redemption. IRON BUTTERFLY is an engrossing and beautifully allegorical tale of the history, suffering, and redemption of an Italian-American family and the small Italian village from which they came.” —IndieReader
