In 1999, Lozoff was awarded an honorary doctorate in theology from Chicago Theological Seminary and the Temple Award for Creative Altruism for his groundbreaking "Prison-Ashram Project," a worldwide spiritual outreach administered by Human Kindness Foundation to distribute free copies of Lozoff's books, CDs, and DVDs to prisoners, their families, and prison staff in over sixty-one countries. Dr. Lozoff has personally visited and led workshops in approximately 1100 prisons around the world. He supports himself by musical performances and by guiding hikers to see lava flowing up close. He is still songwriting and producing new musical albums.
