Cindy Rasicot is a retired psychotherapist and author of This Fresh Existence: Heart Teachings from Bhikkhuni Dhammananda. In 2005 she travelled to Thailand with her family where she met Bhikkhuni Dhammananda — an encounter that changed her life forever. In 2020 she wrote the award winning memoir Finding Venerable Mother: A Daughter’s Spiritual Quest to Thailand. Her memoir is a soulful story of spiritual healing through her loving connection with Bhikkhuni Dhammananda. The book was a finalist in the international Book awards, The Sarton Awards, and Chanticleer International Book Awards. Her writing has also appeared in Lion’s Roar, Elephant Journal, and Yasodhara. In April of 2021, Cindy and Venerable Dhammananda launched Casual Buddhism, a virtual program on YouTube inviting meditation teachers, students, and friends to join Venerable Dhammananda in conversation. In 2014, Cindy received temporary ordination from Venerable Dhammananda and she returned to Thailand in December of 2022 to receive temporary ordination a second time. Cindy lives in Point Richmond, California and enjoys views of the San Francisco Bay.
