Deborah Perry Piscione is a Principal at Vorto Consulting and specializes in innovation process and talent development. She is the architect of the new innovation methodology, Improvisational Innovation, which engages all of the organization's talent in bottoms up innovation. She is a former entrepreneur (building out three companies in six years) and collaborates with IDEO, the world's leading innovation and design consultancy firm, on innovation processes. Deborah is the New York Times bestselling author of Secrets of Silicon Valley: What Everyone Else Can Learn From the Innovation Capital of the World (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013), The Risk Factor: Why Every Organization Needs Big Bets, Bold Characters and the Occasional Spectacular Failure (St. Martin's Press, January 2015), and The People Equation: Why Innovation Is People, Not Products (Berrett-Koehler Publishers, April 2017). A former congressional and White House staffer specializing in foreign policy and economics, she spent over a decade as a media commentator on CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, Fox News, PBS and NPR programs, and her work has been covered in print publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, The Economist (blog) and Forbes. Deborah's graduate work is in international affairs and economics from Georgetown University.
