DRUSILLA WINTERS was a single child who spent her childhood in Gloucestershire, England before moving to Philadelphia at the tender age of eleven. The change in scenery and the inevitable culture shock left her introverted for many months, and this experience in fact turned her into an extremely shy girl—distressing at such an important age. She kept mostly to herself and her home during this transitional period, and she spent her first summer exploring every nook and cranny of their three-story home.
After rummaging through the attic one rainy Sunday afternoon, Drusilla discovered a cardboard box of books, which contained paperback novels from authors such as Stephen King, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, Agatha Christie, and Dame Daphne du Maurier. Within six weeks she read every book in the box and became a member of the cult known as “Horror Fiction Junkie.”
Her new love actually resulted in a burst of creativity, and this, in effect, brought back the fun-loving young girl she once was. Ironically, she quickly made many new friends and became the life of every party. Her love of vampire fiction, horror, thrillers, and classic mystery inevitably led to her becoming an inspiring young author in her own right. She won several middle school awards for her stories on werewolves, demons in the closet, and oddly enough, even unicorns. Her favorite director is Alfred Hitchcock. Drusilla states: “I still jump during the shower scene every time I watch Psycho.” But her favorite Hitchcock movies are both based on works by Daphne du Maurier, Rebecca and The Birds.
Her first Movie Book with 711 Press, Flight 666, was inspired by the literary imaginations of all her favorite authors. It even recalls a bit of H.P. Lovecraft.
