Eric R. Williams sold his first screenplay to Peter Falk in 1998. Since then, he has written two dozen more, including "Snakes & Arrows", "I.Vermeer" and "Columbo and the Curse of Sorcery Circus". He adapted Luis Urrea's novel "Across the Wire" and Bill Littlefield's novel "The Prospect" into feature screenplays as well. Eric also works in television. He created and produced the pilot episode of "Don't Try This at Home" for American Movie Classics, co-produced the four-hour documentary series "Pepperpot" for the country of Guyana, and played an instrumental role in re-editing the historical drama "Holy Days" for its PBS debut. His documentary "Breaking News" critiques the clash of democracy and consumerism in the way television journalism works around the world. His television series of adapted short stories ("Voices from the Heartland") is currently being shopped. Most recently, Eric has begun working in 360-degree video and virtual reality production. His short 360-films have screened around the world at the Seattle Transmedia Film Festival, the Saigon Underground Film Festival, and the Munich Outdoor MiniFest. He has also received an Emmy Award for his work in interactive educational video programs. Eric speaks frequently at conferences on his new idea of "pre-ality" -- using 360-degree videos to prepare people for a real event that is either extremely intense, highly educational... or both. Eric is a professor at Ohio University, where he teaches screenwriting and 360-degree storytelling in the Scripps College of Communication. There, he has received the University Professor Award for Outstanding Teaching, the Distinguished Mentorship Award from the Honors Tutorial College, and was a recent finalist for the Presidential Teaching Award. He is also the founding director of the MFA in Communication Media Arts program, which he helped to create. In his spare time, Eric and his wife Petra disappear on long distance hiking trips including the Appalachian Trail, the Long Trail and hundreds of uninterrupted miles in the Grand Canyon.
