Jane Wurwand is the Founder and Chief Visionary of Dermalogica. An innovative business leader, her advocacy for women’s economic empowerment has earned her a platform at the United Nations, The White House, and around the globe as a sought-after thought leader and public speaker.
In 1986, as am immigrant to California with no credit history, she self-funded Dermalogica with $14,000 and built Dermalogica into the number one professional skin brand in the world.
She was appointed by President Obama as a Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship, and has also served as a special advisor to the UN Foundation’s Global Entrepreneurs Council, supporting their work to advance entrepreneurship among women and girls.
In recognition for her services on skillset training and women's economic independence, Wurwand was made a Fellow of the City & Guilds of London Institute, one of only 500 in the Master Guilds 1,000 year history. Her expertise is frequently sought out by the media. She’s spoken at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and has been featured on numerous podcasts such as NPR’s “How I Built This,” amongst others. She has been named one of “30 World Changing Women” by Conscious Company Media and presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award from Cosmetic Executive Women UK.
In November 2018, Wurwand launched FOUND/LA, a nonprofit initiative offering funding, mentorship, unique incubator programs and educational resources for entrepreneurs who have been underserved or overlooked by traditional systems.
Wurwand travels year-round as a speaker, and lives and works in Los Angeles, where Dermalogica’s global headquarters are located. She still rejects the word “beauty” as it relates to skin care and continues to champion skillset training as a critical pathway towards financial independence. She and her husband, Raymond are parents of two children.
