curriculum vitae - Juliane Sophie Kayser Juliane Sophie Kayser was born in Washington D. C. in 1971. Today she lives with her husband and their three children in Heidelberg. When she was eight years old, she wrote in her diary, " when I grow up, I will be a writer of children's books". First however she became an elementary school teacher... "Hannah's Fantastic Journey into The Past" was published In March 2010. It is the English version of her first children's book in German published in November 2009. The author is an active member of the Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators. ( www.scbwi.org). Here, she is very active in organizing and visiting author workshops, which she also likes to host at her own home. A one-on-one workshop with Babette Cole, an historical fiction workshop with Susan Fletcher in Bologna and a writing workshop with author Donna Jo Napoli in Munich were the highlights. She attends the Bologna Bookfair and the Frankfurt Bookfair regularly. In March 2010 she had her first English book presentation at the SCBWI-booth in Bologna. At the start of 2011 her first magazine article, How do high-quality children's books come about? appeared in the Kinderliterarischer Leseletter, a German Children's Literature Magazine. In addition to public readings and book signings she also does a lot of school visits. Since 2014 she conducts writing workshops for kids at the local library, and has just finished several picture books projects and a first reader, while she is also working on a humorous novel for boys.
