‘Leo’ is a Chilean physician-writer & editor specialized in science fiction. As a doctor, he is a specialist in dermatology and venereology, with studies in psychodermatology and immunology. As a writer, he is best known for his short story cycle "Más espacio del que soñamos" (2018), set for a cinematographic adaptation by filmmaker Jorge Zavala, and "Adiós, loxonauta" (2020), recognized as a ‘book worth your consideration’ by the International Latino Book Awards and winner of the Chilean Altísimo Award (Premio Altísimo) 2022 for Best Work Published in 2020-2021. His most recent publication is "Nomadismos del tiempo trifráctico" (2022), an experimental SF short story collection. He’s currently serving as director of the Chilean SF&F Association (ALCIFF) and is an associate member of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA), as well as an organizer at the international science fiction convention FUTURE·CON. From 2008 to date, his work has been published in Latin America, Europe, China, and the United States—Publishers Weekly highlighted his story "Octobers/October," anthologized by Crystal Huff, calling it 'vivid' and rooted in Chilean history; "Syphilus, Sisyphus" was published in the Sci Phi Journal (2022 European Award for Best SF Magazine); and "La vermuza de la policromata" was translated into Mandarin Chinese and published in the Science Fiction World Magazine - 科幻世界 (Foreign SF - April Issue / 2022年4月), under the title "维缪斯". As an editor, he works at Sietch Ediciones and has overseen the SF anthologies "COVID-19-CFCh" & "Pacífica." He has also studied General Astronomy at the Andrés Bello University and is a member of the Multidisciplinary Association for Studies in Biology and Astrobiology (AMEBA). He currently lives in Santiago de Chile with his wife Daniele and their little dog Hulky.
