Mark Canada, Ph.D., is the author, co-author, or editor of seven books, including Ben Franklin's Lessons in Life (Audible, 2021), Edgar Allan Poe: Master of Horror (Audible, 2020), Introduction to Information Literacy for Students (Wiley, 2017), and Literature and Journalism in Antebellum America (Palgrave, 2011). His articles on Franklin, Poe, Thomas Wolfe, Theodore Dreiser, Henry David Thoreau, Rebecca Harding Davis, and other subjects have appeared in The Conversation, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Southern Quarterly, Poe in Context, The Thomas Wolfe Review, American Literary Realism, Journalism History, Southern Cultures, The Conversation, The Companion to Southern Literature, The Student's Encyclopedia of Great American Writers, and other venues. As an English professor specializing in American literature and the English language, he has taught thousands of students in courses such as The American Novel, Literature and Journalism, and Aspects of the English Language, as well as graduate seminars on Thomas Wolfe and biblical literature. He is a past-president of the Thomas Wolfe Society, as well as a contributing editor of The Thomas Wolfe Review. Since 2022, he has been Chancellor of Indiana University Kokomo.
