I am a paramedic, an educator, and a family man who has been richly blessed by the LORD. And I write about what I know. So if my stories are gritty, a little fast, colorful, and full of adventure, it's because that's my personality. I've been there, on the water, in the woods, and on the street, with dying people in my arms, and that has left a deep impression on my heart. But at the end of the day, I'm just a simple paramedic with a lot of stories to tell. "Answering the Call" is a collection of short stories written as devotionals to encourage my 1st responder friends. The air felt cool and crisp, with a mild southwesterly breeze so typical for the North Carolina coast in early May. A full moon shone through the pine branches, casting shadows on the boat dock. Ripples lapped against the pylons creating that all so familiar sound reminiscent of the dark water of the Newport River basin. Stone cold, a stalker stood in the trees beside the dock watching the fisherman’s every move. Waiting patiently for the right moment to strike. Hoping to savor the sweet satisfaction of a revenge served unexpectedly and harsh. It was time for the Crocker’s to pay.
