PERFECT BOOK
This is perhaps one of the best books which captures the art and science of Viral videos. I strongly recommend it to students, professionals, just about everyone who is interested in understanding the complex game of why and how videos go viral.

Crisp, focused and packed with value - Go for it!
My first book review of 2022 talks about the last book I read in 2021! And this one was a breezy yet insightful listen' on Audible.
Fast Cheap and Viral gives you practical tips and insights into creating share-worthy videos that resonate with viewers and attain the nirvana of modern-day content - virality!
I found the book very engaging and packed with simple doable action-points. What I loved the most was the utter simplicity with which it has been written. You don't have to be a marketer or vlogger to follow it. If you can read English, you can pretty much understand every single chapter in this book.
I found a lot of takeaways from it and these are applicable not just to videos but to content in general (sharing a few top-of-the-mind ones):
- Aim for 'shareworthiness', not virality. If people share your content, virality is an obvious outcome.
- The IUCTC framework to pick topics that resonate with your audience
- Storytelling beats production any day (or aesthetics for that matter)
- Views can be bought. But engagement has to be earned
What I felt could have been better - Chapter 3 which talks about videos for personal branding seemed a bit rushed. Some more tips and pointers in that section would have been great.
In a nutshell, Fast, Cheap and Viral is a simple and straightforward yet powerful book. I highly recommend it if you wish to float your own YouTube channel or create video content on a regular basis. Or even create content for that matter. It is narrated on Audible in a very pleasant manner with the right touch of humour!
Go for it I say! :) Happy reading in 2022!

Simple and to the point
The author has explained the concepts in simple language avoiding jargon. He also seems to practice what he preaches by genuinely trying to help the listener gain the most out of the book. Recommended.

A quick insightful look at FCV content
For anyone looking at promoting their brands or other's brands on social media - this is a must listen. Even if you takeaway one or two things from the book - it is still worth it. There are slight overlaps sometimes between chapter to chapter especially with video examples but for the most part the book is free of fluff and faff - and is to the point. I also came to know of a few great ad campaigns which I wouldn't have known about otherwise... In the world of social media - the idea and message of the video is king... and this book is a must read. Be warned - this book is not going to give you a magic formula for making videos viral - you still have to do the hard work of ideation - but it will provide a bunch of lessons that the author has learnt so you don't have to waste time reinventing the social media video wheel. Cheers Aashish for taking the time to put down your years of learning into this concise written work.

This books works is even better as an audiobook 👍
Generally, I am not fond of audio books, unless it’s produced with a full cast and background score like radio drama. So, was all the more sceptical to try out a non-fiction audiobook. But, was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of this audiobook- the voice and narration is flawless and I realised that since the author has written it in first person from his own experience from real life- it makes for a compelling hearing experience. As recommended by the author, hear it at 1.3x speed and it sounded perfect!

Unfortunately, I fell for it too, by buying this book. Couldn't get through 2 chapters without being reminded of all the social media "gurus" selling their courses on success,
