• Ep. 20: Sunny Stroeer & Ashly Winchester on the Magic Trail
    Dec 1 2021

    Supported by Gnarly Nutrition.

Sunny Stroeer is back! This time, Sunny and I share a discussion about our recent adventure on a route that we nicknamed the "Magic Trail." What the heck is the Magic Trail? It's obscure. It's rugged. It's remote. And it's fantastic.

In this episode, Sunny and I chat about our experiences on this seemingly magical route, how we went about our decision-making processes, our risk assessments, drinking questionable water, changing our perspectives, and why we chase big things.

Get ready to be stabbed by cacti and bivvy under the stars with us as we recount a wild experience on the Tuckup Trail.

  • Ep. 19: Emily Keddie
    Feb 19 2021

Emily is an endurance athlete with a proclivity for adrenaline-packed adventures. You can find her free-soloing rock of somewhat questionable quality, running 100-mile races, or taking off on lengthy and extremely remote backpacking trips involving the need for navigational prowess.

Emily is rarely without her furry best friend, Jolly, a golden retriever who loves adventuring just as much as Emily does.

In this episode, we dive into Emily’s adventures, but also discuss our tendency as humans to compare ourselves to others, and managing the negative feelings that come from this.

She's candid, kind, so much fun, and truly inspiring.

  • Ep. 17: Ellen Falterman - Adventure Traveler
    Dec 18 2020

This episode's guest is Ellen Falterman, also known as Ellen Magellen. I can’t quite describe who she is in this short intro, but I’ll try, and hopefully I’ll do her some justice. I guess I would call her an expeditionist. Ellen embarks on multi-month expeditions. The most recent of which involved paddling a canoe over 2,000 miles. She is a true adventure traveller, and every experience leads her to dream bigger. In this episode, we talk a lot about her expeditions, we chat about the loss of a family member and how it spurred her to set off on a solo adventure, and we discuss the next big expedition she has in the works. Ellen drops some knowledge bombs throughout this episode as well. Trust me when I say you don’t want to miss out on the 3 D’s.

  • Ep. 16: Sabrina Stanley on Nolan's 14
    Dec 4 2020

Sabrina is a professional ultra-distance runner, run coach, and all-around badass. As with a lot of runners in the time of COVID,  the virus really threw a wrench in her race plans for this year. But Sabrina was flexible and instead of dwelling on that, she was able to pivot and focus her attention on a big objective she had been eyeing for a while: a classic Colorado route called Nolan’s 14. Sabrina got to know this route really well, to say the least.

This episode is full of little nuggets of ultra-running wisdom as Sabrina recounts her experiences on Nolan’s 14.

  • Ep. 15: Jillian Brown - PTSD and the Energy Within
    Nov 13 2020

To Jillian Brown, PTSD doesn’t stand for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, it stands for Perseverance, Trust, Strength, and Determination, because that’s what she found as she’s navigated through her personal journey with PTSD.

Jillian has a unique understanding of PTSD. She left everything behind to leave an abusive relationship. She was homeless and lost. Seeking out professional help, Jillian was diagnosed with PTSD, but was given very little information and even fewer options.

Jillian has found strength, determination, and direction through connecting with nature and moving her body. In this episode of WOTW, we talk about the healing power of the wilderness and exercise, how a squirrel taught her the meaning of life, and the adventures that have shaped her into the incredible human she is today.

    Oct 22 2020

Sunny is back and she always brings the best topics to discuss! This time, we talk about failure.
Failure… is hard. It can be difficult to accept, to process, and to overcome.  Sunny, who is a professional athlete, guide, business owner, and expedition leader, talks about her own failures in the outdoors, how she’s handled them, and what they mean to her. We swap failure stories and discuss how they have shaped us as athletes. Sunny’s insights might help you look at your failures a little differently.
