The saints, the heroes of the Roman Catholic faith, lived lives of holiness, dedicated to serving God. The saints lived at different times in different places throughout history, but they all shared a love of God that has been documented through the teachings of the Church. Teresa di Gesù, o d'Ávila, (28 marzo 1515 - 15 ottobre 1582) è stata una mistica spagnola, nonché Dottore della Chiesa. Dopo un travagliato percorso interiore, completò la sua "conversione" a trentanove anni, e fondò a sua volta l'ordine per frati e monache dei Carmelitani scalzi, in cui la regola non accettava le mitigazioni dei Carmelitani. Scrisse vari testi in cui presenta la sua esperienza e insegnamenti sull'orazione.
