Margaret Mahy is one of the very best childrens writers. Her inventive stories and humour are both incredible and delightful. In 'The Downhill Crocodile Whizz' a crocodile is sent a pair of skates by his Grandma and ignoring her warning sets off to have fun. In 'Elephant Milk Hippopotamus Cheese' a giant helps Weedy finally grow into her enormous feet. Absolute joy.

These five chilling tales make perfect night time listening - and, for the fearful, can be heard in a group, rather than experienced as solo bedtime reading. Charles Dickens, Wilkie Collins, W. L.
