لم تتحقق الدولة الإسلامية بصورتها المثلى في عهد أيٍّ من عهود الخلفاء والحكام مثلما تحققت في عهد الخليفة الثاني عمر بن الخطابةرضي الله عنه الذي جمع بين النزاهة والحزم، والرحمة والعدل، والهيبة والتواضع، والشدة والزهد.

في هذا الكتاب أراد المؤلف الكبير عبد الرحمن الشرقاوي أن يكتب سيرة الحبيب المصطفى - صلى الله عليه وسلم - منطلقاً من قوله تعالى "قُلْ إِنَّمَا أنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ".
