About this listen

The author, a former Special Secretary of India's external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) of the Cabinet Secretariat, examines a series of interconnected events that led to the rise of the Khalistan movement, Operation Blue Star, the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984 and the anti-Sikh violence unleashed thereafter. With a timeline that moves from seven years before to a decade after 1984, the book strives to answer critical questions that continue to linger till today.

The narrative moves from Punjab to Canada, the US, Europe and Delhi, looking to sift the truth from political obfuscation and opportunism, examining the role that the ruling party allegedly played, and the heart-rending violence that devoured thousands of innocent lives in its aftermath.

Precise narration by a true patriot

Thank General G.B.S Siddhi for such a wonderful account in what transpired during the 70’s and 80’s in Punjab. It being a topic on which not a lot is spoken about you have provided a detailed account and answering pretty much all the answers that were unanswered for a long time .

Revealing

This book is just fabulous. While going through, many unknown truths have come to light. The politicians have an extremely narrow view and get carried away by following the ill trained and self serving advisors. India needs many Chanakyas to put her house in order. Mr. Sidhu, the author is one - why not seek help from experts. Excellent book.

Informative

Very informative. Clear details in a language that is understandable for common folks and a tone that is just right. Made me also feel proud for my dad did during 1984 by shelteing 2 Sikh families but at the same time ashamed for people of my "communicty and city" being not only violent and murderous but also gullible to be fooled by crooked politicians.

Both the aftermath and the events preceding Blue Star could have had some more details and descriptions from the side of the victims of terrorism and extremism. Would have made the book more balanced.
